Warren Chauvin

Warren Chauvin is the Career Resource Planning Liaison with the Virtual Academy of Lafourche. He was born on June 22, 1954.  In May of 1956 he contracted polio and was sent to Charity Hospital, remaining there for 6 months.
Warren was left with having to wear braces on both legs, wearing a corset, and using crutches to ambulate.  At six, he only needed the brace on my left leg and at age twelve, he no longer needed the corset.  Warren went through Children’s Special Health Services and had to go to special clinics at Touro Hospital until he was 21.

Starting at the age of eight, he had three surgeries and stayed at Children’s Hospital to receive physical therapy.  He had to wear a brace on his left leg and use crutches to ambulate.  In his thirties, he was getting weaker and feeling different pains, which is known as Post-Polio Syndrome.  He now uses a wheelchair to get around
